Alice Arlene Waskey, 72 of Chetek passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Dallas Care & Rehabilitation Center.  She was born September 5, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to Nila and Steve Wasko and as an infant moved with her family to Chetek where her dad started a welding business.

After graduating from Chetek High School in 1963, Alice went on to school in Minnesota where she became a secretary for many orthopedic companies across the United States.  While living in Denver, CO she met the love of her life, James Waskey.  In January 1999 they were united in a double marriage along with her sister Kim and Larry Toufar.  Around 11 years ago, Alice and James moved back to Chetek where they retired.  Alice loved flowers, needlepoint, beadwork, summertime, pontooning, traveling and playing practical jokes on her family.

Alice will be missed dearly by everyone who know and loved her.  She was a 47 year cancer survivor and fought a courageous battle with dementia for 5 years.  She received exceptional care the last year of her life at the Dallas Care & Rehabilitation from all the kind and wonderful caregivers there.

Alice is survived by her sisters; Roberta (Ken) Anderson, Stevie (Ron) Amundson of New auburn, Kim (Larry) Toufar of Chetek, Brother; John (Karen) Wasko of Chetek, Brother-in-laws; Bob Arneson of Chetek, Joe (Jackie) Waskey of North Carolina, Daughter; Kelly of Colorado, Stepdaughter; Lyndsay (Ryan) Waskey of West Minster, Colorado, Granddaughter; Charlette of Colorado, special friend Donna Harpold and many nieces and nephews.  Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Nila and Steve Wasko, husband, James Waskey, daughter, Kimberly Wittmann, sister, Dorla “Tiny” Arneson.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. where her final resting place will be with her parents at Lake View Cemetery.  In honor of Alice, memorials can be made to the Dallas Care and Rehabilitation Center, Cancer or Alzheimer's charities of your choice.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
