Arlene E. (Saastad) Hoveland

September 23, 1930 — November 29, 2020

Arlene S. Hoveland, 90, of New Auburn, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Mayo Clinic Health Care System, Barron.  Arlene Saastad was born on September 23, 1930 in Chippewa Falls, WI the daughter of Olga (Stade) and Even Saastad.

Arlene graduated from High School in Chetek.  She married Orville Hoveland on 9/4/1949.  She worked as the Financial Secretary for Chetek Lutheran Church for many years.  She was a past Treasure of the Town of Dovre for many years, she was a Life Long Member of the Sons of Norway she also taught the Norwegian language and a Life Long Active Member of Dovre Lutheran Church where she was involved with many activates a member of the Dovre Lutheran Quilters.  She was also a supporter of Luther Park Ministries.

In her free time, Arlene enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing games and trips with her family.  She was a season ticket holder of the Red Barn Theatre.

Arlene leaves to celebrate her memory: son, David (Arlys) Hoveland, Dallas, Wisconsin, grandson, Christopher (Ashley) Hoveland, Dallas, WI; granddaughter, Minda (Jason) Matthys, Spring Valley, WI, great grandchildren, William and Ava Hoveland, Dallas, WI and Madeline, Maxwell and Kaitlyn Matthys, Spring Valley, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Olga and Even Saastad, her husband Orville Hoveland and her son, Paul Hoveland.

The Celebration of Life for Arlene will be held at Dovre Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.  Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M.  She will be laid to rest alongside her husband Orville at the Dovre Lutheran Church Cemetery following the service.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with services.
