Betty Jean Beal, 89 of New Auburn, peacefully passed away at her home with family by her side, on January 6th, 2016. Betty was born on October 2nd, 1926, in an old farm house just south of Chetek, to Albert and Myrtle (Dutton) Lund. Betty tragically lost her mother at a very young age, still Betty and her sisters all managed to care for each other and attend school. Betty was always amazed and proud of herself to have graduated from Chetek School in 1945 even with no adult to make her go to school. After graduation Betty traveled to Chicago where she worked at Western Electrical Factory, it was there she met her husband James Beal. They were married on October 22nd, 1947 and moved to New Auburn to start life on a farm as well as their family. They had 2 children David and Linda. Betty was a member of New Auburn United Methodist Church. She loved a good game of cards and a cold beer, as well as spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crouching, knitting, and traveling. Betty and James enjoyed spending winters in Texas for many years. Her most memorable trip was to England. Betty is survived by; son, David (Barbie) Beal of New Auburn, daughter, Linda (Bob) McCracken of Altoona, nieces, Pat (Ron) Harris of Bloomer, and Polly (John) Barnett of Sarasota, FL., sister, Shirley (Ron) Marquardt of Ohio, Grandchildren Annette (Steve) Rathbun of Chetek, Shawn Beal of Chippewa, Rusty (Cindi) Beal of Bloomer, Jared (Amber) Beal of New Auburn, Autum Beal of Chippewa, Cody Beal of New Auburn, Chad McCracken of Altoona, and Cory McCracken (Martin) of Minneapolis, numerous great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her parents, her husband, James of 68 years, an infant brother, sisters, Alberta, Donna, Ethel, Arlene, Juanita. A Memorial service for Betty will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Jude's Church in New Auburn. Betty's family will greet visitors at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Following the service the family invites their guests to join them for lunch and fellowship at the church. Betty will be laid to rest at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery alongside her husband. The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
