Betty Marie (Gross) Vogel

Betty M. Vogel, 85 of Prairie Lake Township passed away August 27, 2015 at Monroe Manor in Barron, WI.  She was born in Hillsboro, WI September 28, 1929 the daughter of Bernice (Liska) and Frank Gross.

Betty married James Andrew Vogel May 14, 1949.  They moved to Chetek in 1983 from Janesville, Wisconsin after she retired from teaching in 1981.  Betty was active in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, President of the P.T.A., enjoyed family camping around the United States and traveling worldwide with her husband.  She graduated from Vernon County Normal School and from Whitewater State College.  She taught school three years in Vernon County, one year in Rock County and 16 years at Milton Junior High School.  Betty’s interests included reading, knitting, sewing, watercolor painting, making quilts and flower gardening.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, James A. Vogel, three children; Steven Vogel of Falls Church, VA, Glen (Melanie) Vogel of Franklin, WI, Lynn (Todd Wright) Hiller of Barron, WI four grandchildren; Peter Vogel, Eric Vogel, Adam Vogel, Jason Hiller, one sister; Shirley (Joe) Nofsinger of Mauston,WI. Betty is also survived by other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren; Traci Hiller and Heidi Vogel and one sister Katherine Wood.

A memorial service for Betty will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Funeral Home in Chetek with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating.  Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Otterholt Cemetery in Prairie Lake Township.  A luncheon and continued fellowship will be at R-Bar banquet facility immediately after.  Please view and sign the online guestbook at www.burnhamours.com .
