Catherine (Schroeder) Leanna Geske, 93, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek, WI. She was born March 10, 1919 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William and Catherine (Wagener) Schroeder.
Catherine was raised in the Woodstock, IL area, where she spent most of her life. She married Raymond Leanna on April 20, 1940 at St. Mary’s Church in Woodstock, IL. They were married 45 years. Catherine loved to cook and bake. She was a nurse all her life. She worked at Sunset Manor in Woodstock for several years. She then retired, and married Walter Geske on October 24, 1987. Together, they did some traveling, and loved to go dancing. Catherine and Walter were married 16 years. She then moved to Wisconsin in May of 2004 to live with her daughter. Catherine enjoyed living on the lake and riding on her pontoon boat.
Catherine leaves to celebrate her memory, son, Ray (Shirley) Leanna of Palmyra, WI; daughter, Karen Magnuson of Cameron, WI; brothers, Clarence (Gloria) Schroeder of Mesa, AZ, and Joe (Karen) Schroeder of Palmyra, WI; sister in law, Dorothy Schroeder of Fort Atkinson, WI; 5 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Raymond Leanna and Walter Geske; son in law, Larry Magnuson; sisters, Joan (Tom) Lalor, Marie (Robert) Wilson; brother, William Schroeder; sister in law, Agnes Schroeder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098. Catherine’s family will be greeting visitors from 9:00 A.M. until the service time at the church. Catherine will be laid to rest next to her husband, Raymond Leanna at Calvary Cemetery in Woodstock, IL.
