Charles R. Kramer, 64 of New Auburn passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. He was born November 23, 1949 in Ladysmith, WI the son of Victoria (Bednarek) and Harold Kramer.
Charlie graduated from Weyerhaeuser High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after his duty in Vietnam. Charlie retired from the concrete construction trades and farmed for most of his life. He was a private guy who loved being in the woods in the fall. He would cut wood as the deer watched nearby. Charlie would drop everything to help a friend, but in turn could also be a bear if someone crossed him.
Charles is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Lucy Lenfesty of New Auburn, WI; her son, Devin Lenfesty of Maryland and granddaughter Samantha Lenfesty of Maryland. Beloved nephew of Frances Bednarek-Scheu, cousins; Allan & Sharon Kramer of Bruce, WI, Ray Traczyk of Shoreview, MN and very dear friends Ken, Rose, Todd and Josh Eckes. Also survived by one sister Diane Scott-McDougall, one brother Tim (Judy) Kramer and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael Kramer.
Funeral Services for Charlie will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek. Family and friends may gather for one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest following the service at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI. Pallbearers will be David Hunt, Dan Sebold, Todd Eckes, Duane Taylor, Josh Eckes, Dwight Taylor.
