Charles Walter Wood, age 62, died Sunday, September 2, 2012, at his home in the Township of Chetek. He was born April 23, 1950, in Woodstock, Illinois to his parents, Charles Wesley Wood and Frances Elizabeth Barber.
Charles grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and graduated in 1971 from Cary Grove Community High School, IL. As a young man, Charles worked at John Evans Inn in Crystal Lake, IL as dishwasher, general maintenance and janitorial services, where he met his wife, Linda Louise Wineman of Crystal Lake, IL. They were married August 7, 1976, in Crystal Lake, IL.
In 1979 he and his wife moved to Chetek, WI. Charles worked at J&F Agri Buildings in New Auburn as a construction crew member and later at Chetek Furniture Company in Chetek as a mill worker.
He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time cutting and selling firewood, hunting, and fishing. Charles was also mechanically inclined and worked on cars at times. He was especially fond of his early sports cars. He helped on various construction projects with friends and family and built an enclosed front porch on his house. He was a Packers fan, and also enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his family.
Charles leaves to celebrate his memory, his wife, Linda of Chetek; two daughters, Yvonne and Gina Wood of Chetek; a sister, Debbie (Mark) Deemy of Sunrise, AZ; an uncle, Walter Barber of Richmond, IL; several cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, and his step-father, Glenn Stinek.
A Funeral Service for Charles will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 10, 2012 at Burnham-Ours Funeral Home in Chetek, with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating. The family will be greeting visitors from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
