Christian "Chris" Carl Carlson

Christian “Chris” Carl Carlson, 93 of Chetek, Wisconsin passed away at the Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek on Monday, February 29, 2016.  Chris was born on August 21, 1922 in Dovre, Wisconsin the son of Sigurd and Lillian Carlson.

Chris was born and raised on the family farm where he lived for 90 years.  He was married to June Loth on October 14, 1950.   He was a lifetime member of Dovre Lutheran Church,  he served on the Dovre Lutheran Church Council (various years), he served as council president, secretary and Sunday School Superintendent.  He also served as Town Chairman and Supervisor for the Town of Dovre for 25 years.  He represented the Town of Dovre on the New Auburn Area Fire Board from 1972-2013, Barron County Supervisor for 22 years, Barron County Zoning Board for numerous years, Barron County Land Conservation Committee (Chairman 1992-1998), Barron County Extension Education Committee for 15 years, Lions Club Member (received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award), Barron Electric Co-op Board of Directors 1961-1997, a member of the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association and served as Past Statewide Vice President and President.

Chris leaves to celebrate his memory: children, James Carlson, Indianapolis, IN; Carol Carlson, Brooklyn Center, MN; Paul (Brenda) Carlson, New Auburn and Richard (Susan) Carlson, Chippewa Falls, WI; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters, Ruth Anderson, Dorothy Ostlie and Naomi Post, brother, Martin Carlson (Alice) and other loving family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Sigurd and Lillian Carlson, his wife June (Loth) Carlson and his sisters, Esther, Sigrid, Mathilda, Iduna and Agnes.

The funeral service for Chris will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Dovre Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek and then at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.

Following the service please join the family for lunch and fellowhsip in the church basement.

Chris will be laid to rest in the spring at Dovre Lutheran Church Cemetery.
