David Walter Zwernik

December 20, 1949 — April 24, 2019

David W. Zwernik, 69 of Chetek unexpectedly passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at UW Health University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.  He was born December 20, 1949 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin the son of Leona (Romanowski) and Walter Zwernik.

David graduated from Weyerhaeuser High School in 1968 and was employed at Pederson Brothers Construction. David & Jerry Hagen started Southview Patio, later merging with Southview Design where David retired.  David married Julie Fostvedt October 7, 1989 in Chetek.  He enjoyed woodworking, motorcycling, hunting and was an avid reader.   David built his home in Chetek and was a jack of all trades, whereby he could build and fix anything.

David is survived by his wife; Julie, son; Sam of Milwaukee, step-children; Nick (Jessica) Janota of Hillsdale, Andy Janota of Chetek, step-grandchildren; Hunter, Audrey, Haylee, Briella, Evelyn, sisters; Virginia (Ray) Garbacz of Princeton, MN, Judy (Dave) Schultz of Revillo, SD, brother; Ray (Lenora) Zwernik of Craig, CO, many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brother; Don Zwernik and one sister; Evelyn Scott.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.  Please join the family for continued fellowship and a luncheon at St. Boniface Catholic Church hall at 11:30 A.M.   Inurnment will be held privately.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
