Delores Katherine (Clark) Madison

July 17, 1921 — February 15, 2013

Delores K. Madison, age 91 formerly of Sand Creek, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek. The former Delores Katherine Clark, daughter of the late Roy and Minnie (Steinmetz) Clark was born July 17, 1921 in rural Bloomer. She married Norbert Madison on June 4, 1941. He preceded her in death in January of 1996. She farmed with Norbert and their family in the Town of Sand Creek for many years and after her retirement she moved to Bloomer.

She was formerly a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sand Creek currently of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer.  Delores was also very active in all aspects of church volunteer work including ladies aid, Sunday school, circle and reading.  She was the quintessential farmers wife and manager of operations including milking, gardening and canning, chickens for eggs and meat, and sewing which could all be in her days work all topped off by helping to filet a bucket of bluegills.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Judith Hoover, son-in-laws Richard Hoover and John Knutson and sister Eunice Paulson. She is survived by two daughters Mary Knutson of Chetek and her children Tim (Dawn) Knutson and great grandchildren Owen and Claire; Heidi (Scott) Kodesh; Karen (Russell) Walker of Menominee Michigan and their children Wendy Walker and Melissa Bauknecht (special friend Joe Lambert) and great granddaughter Sophia Walker, One son Patrick (Darlene) Madison and their children Jodie Madison, Jennifer (William) Hecker and their children Heather and Jake, and Angela Madison, sister Alice (Darrel) Olson of Mondovi, brother Jack (Marie) Clark of Bloomer, her Godson Roger Paulson, many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. on Sunday at Burnham-Ours Funeral Home in Chetek and on Monday from 10 until 11 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran church in Bloomer. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Martin Halom officiating.  Burial will be in Bloomer Cemetery.
