Donald Charles Wellsandt

Donald Charles Wellsandt, 77 of Chetek, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home with his loving wife Jean and his dog Snickers by his side.  Donald was born on July 5, 1935 in Boyd, Wisconsin at home.  He was the son of Ervin L. and Loretta (Pilgram) Wellsandt.

Donald served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1960.  He went on to serve another four years in the Wisconsin National Guard.  On October 9, 1965 Donald married Jean C. Pilhofer in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.  Together they had two sons, Gary and Mark.  Donald retired after 28 ½ years from Northern Center in Chippewa Falls and then spent the next 16 years between his winter home in Arizona and Chetek.  He enjoyed square dancing with Jean, and many family events which included camping, traveling, golfing, fishing, ATV riding, snowmobiling and card playing.  He was passionate and extremely fussy about his lawn.

Donald is survived by his wife of 47 years Jean C. Wellsandt, Father of Gary (Julie) Wellsandt of Chippewa Falls, WI; Mark Wellsandt of EauClaire WI; proud Grandfather of Matthew Wellsandt and Amanda Wellsandt.  Fond Brother of Norbert (Beatrice) Wellsandt of Rice Lake, WI; Charlene (Rodney) Roytek of Thorp, WI.  Brother-in-law of Mary Wellsandt of Abbotsford, WI. Also survived by very special friends Jack (the late Dori) Smith of EauClaire, WI, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, two Brothers; Clarence and (Donald's twin) Ronald, and one sister Carol.

A Memorial service for Donald will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Noon at the Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek.  Pastor Tylan Dalrymple from Christ Lutheran Church officiating.  A memorial gathering will be held one hour prior to the service.  Military Honors will be performed in the chapel at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 12:30 P.M.
