Donna Mae Fults, 82 of Chetek passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rice Lake. She was born July 31, 1932 the daughter of Azro and Eleanor Cheney in Chardon, Ohio.
Donna graduated 1949 from Grossmont High School in California. She went on to college where she graduated in 1954 with a Bachelors Degree from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, Masters Degree from the University of Chicago, 1962 and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 1976 in Learning Disability Education.
She was a flight attendant for United Airlines, and later married her first husband Charles Donald England in 1955. Together they had four children, William, Phillip and twin daughters Sheri and Teri. Donna loved to sew, make quilts for her grandchildren, bake, cook and play bridge.
On June 7, 1980 Donna married James Owen Fults at Chetek Lutheran Church. Together they loved to travel; this included all 50 states, the Soviet Union and 2 trips to Europe. Donna and her husband wintered in El Centro, California and she volunteered teaching there as well. Teaching was Donna’s passion. She taught school, from 1956-1973 in Illinois, then moved to Chetek where she taught Chetek area schools-learning disabled from 1975 until her retirement in 1992. She was a very adventurous lady as well as a great story teller.
Donna is survived by her husband, James Fults of Chetek, children, William (Jen) England of Irvine, California, Phillip (Lisa) England of San Diego, California, Sheri Ann England of University Place, Washington, Step-Children; Luanne (Don) Schwarzhoff of Savage, Minnesota, Kevin (Marti) Fults of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, Brad (Kathy) Fults of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and Tim (Cindy) Fults of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Also survived by 20 grandchildren who fondly knew her as Gramma TEK; Taylor, Tory, Amber, Coral, Tyler, Trevor, Travis, Emerson “Emme”, Connor, Jared, Brandon, Patrick, Michael, Matthew, Katrina "Katie", Andy, Eric, Garrick, Kristin, Jordan, 3 great-grandchildren; Raelyn, Alena, Owen and special nephew Paul Gregory along with other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Charles Donald England, one daughter Teri Ann England and sisters; Eloise Gregory and Mary "Mickey" Cheney.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Chetek Lutheran Church 11:00 A.M. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the service. Donna's family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon and continued fellowship in the church basement after the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lutheran Social Services www.lsswis.org or 715-394-4173.
