Doris Evelyn (Homme) Williams
June 3, 1923 — July 26, 2013
Doris Evelyn Williams, 90, of Chetek, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek. Doris was born on June 3, 1923 in Sioux Creek Township the daughter of Steiner and Alta (Plummer) Homme.
Doris graduated from Chetek High School in 1941 and soon after she moved to Chicago for work and then to Marshfield where she worked in War Factories. She was married to Donald Williams in October of 1942. In 1950 Doris and Don purchased a farm in Priarie Lake Township where they made their living working the land and where they raised their four children.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don, daughter, Marsha and many brothers and sisters. She leaves to celebrate her memory, son, Marshall (Mary) Williams, Cameron, WI; daughter, Sonja (Mike) Mujwid, Chetek, WI; son, Jon Williams, Chetek, WI; nine grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, brother, Russell Homme, sister, Shirley Richardson, nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
The Funeral Service for Doris will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek. Pastor Ralph Marquardt will officiate the service. Doris’ family will greet visitors on Wednesday, July 31 from 5 – 7 P.M. at the funeral home and then again one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Doris will be laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery in Chetek following the service.
