Dorothy Quint, age 83, passed away on July 3, 2013 after a long battle against the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Belmond, IA on July 2, 1930 and just made it to her 83 rd birthday. In 1949, she married John Quint and spent 62 years happily married until his death in 2010. They worked jointly for many years operating the WCCO Smoke shop, where Dorothy’s soups and egg salad sandwiches were legendary. In 1990, she and John retired to Potato Lake in Chetek WI. In 2007, she entered Knapp Haven Nursing Home until she joined her beloved John in Heaven. Her sweet and loving temperament will be missed.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Nancy) Quint of Chisago City, MN. ; two daughters, Sandra Quint of Champlin, MN and Patti Quint of El Cajon, CA; her sisters, Wilhelmine Vestweber, Phyllis Baumgardner, and Joan (Airell) Clark; two brothers Richard (Linda) Kriens and Kenny (Florence) Kriens.; four grandchildren, Cameron, Amy, Mary and Brandon. She was preceded by her husband, John Quint, and her parents, John and Minnie Kriens.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, July 9th at 11:00 am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek, WI. Visitation will be Monday, July 8th from 4 pm to 7 pm at Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek and one hour prior to the Service at Church on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek for the wonderful care and love they gave her during her time there.
