Eleanor Florence (Lindblad) Nichols

September 1, 1919 — April 30, 2014

Eleanor Florence Nichols, 94 of Chetek passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at her residence with her loving family at her side.  She was born in the township of Chetek September 1, 1919 the daughter of Addie (Longman) and Vern Lindblad.

Eleanor married William “Bill” Nichols, III on December 22, 1938 on the Lindblad farm in Chetek.  This past December would have marked their Diamond Anniversay-75 years.   She not only was a wonderful homemaker, raising their 10 children but also worked alongside Bill on the farm.  Eleanor loved to be in the kitchen-cooking, baking and canning the fresh vegetables from the garden.  She was famous for knitting many needed items to keep you warm in the winter such as slippers, hats, mittens and scarves.

Eleanor is survived by her children; Anne Goodremote of Cameron, Emilie Wanders of Chetek, William Nichols IV (Lois Ristow) of Altoona, Louise (Alan) Olson of Cameron, Linda (Joseph) Gryz of Rockford, Illinois, Larry (Pat) Nichols of Chetek, Fred (Hilary) Nichols of Chetek, Pat Richardson of Melbourne, Florida, Sandra (Steven) Maxwell of Melbourne, Florida, David (Sherrie) Nichols of New Auburn.  Also survived by 21 Grandchildren, many Great-Grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, sons-in-law; Oscar Goodremote and John Wanders, sister; Carol Howard, brothers; Meryl and Harold Lindblad and one infant sister.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 4,  2014 at Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating. Family and friends may gather from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. The burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery following the funeral service.  Eleanor’s’ family would like to invite everyone for a luncheon and continued fellowship at The Refuge Church (behind Dairy Queen) after the interment.
