Emma Marcella (Libersky) Berning

Emma Marcella Berning, 93, of Chetek, Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek.
Emma Marcella Libersky was born on October 1, 1919 in Bloomer, Wisconsin the daughter of Louis and Emma (Gick) Libersky. She attended school in the Bloomer area and graduated 8 th grade from St. Paul’s Catholic School in Bloomer.
Emma married Cyril Berning on June 24, 1950. The couple resided in Chetek where together they raised their family. She worked for many years at the Chetek High School Cafeteria. Emma enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing cards, painting and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Emma leaves to celebrate her memory: children, Daniel (Kathy) Mason, Kalispell, MT; David (Melody) Mason, Glasgow, KY; Carol (Wilbur) Bowe, Cameron, WI; George (Karen) Berning, Princeton, MN; Tim (Debbie) Berning, Chetek, WI; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Judy Mason, sisters, Louisa Leavens, Bloomer, WI; Clara Schneider, Chippewa Falls, WI; brother-in-law, Wilfred Berning and many other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Emma Libersky, husband, Cyril Berning, sons, Eugen Mason and Jim Berning, grandson, John Mason, great grandson, Ethan Mason and several brothers and sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Emma’s Family will greet visitors at the church for one hour prior to the Mass.
Emma will be laid to rest alongside her husband Cyril and son Jim at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Chetek following the Mass. Casket Bearers will be Tom Mason, Josh Bowe, Nick Bowe, Greg Berning, Mike Berning and Troy Berning. The family would like to invite their guests to join them back at the church fellowship hall for lunch following the cemetery committal service.
The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
