Evelyn Elizabeth Johnson, 86, of Chetek, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek with her loving daughter at her side.  Evelyn was born on December 9, 1928 in Chicago, IL; the daughter of John and Evelyn (McGuire) Becker.

Evelyn grew up in Necedah, Wisconsin.  She began her teaching career in a one room country school house in Necedah.  Evelyn married Gerald Wayne Johnson on January 10, 1953 in Necedah, Wisconsin and they had one daughter, Linda Rae. They were married for 51 years until his death in 2004.  Evelyn taught for many years as a kindergarten teacher in Randolph, Wisconsin before retiring in 1978 to move to Friendship, Wisconsin with her husband.  Later, she and Gerald settled in Chetek Wisconsin to enjoy time on the lake, making new friends, and traveling.  Evelyn’s fondest memories were times spent with her friends, family, grandsons and great-granddaughters on the lake.

Evelyn leaves to celebrate her memory: daughter, Linda Bauer, Minnetonka, MN; grandsons, Tom (Laura) Bauer, Glencoe, IL; Justin (Sarah) Bauer, Lindenhurst, IL; great grandchildren: Serena, Sylvia and Shelby Bauer and Mackenna Bauer, brother, Fred (Diane) Becker, sister, Sharon Ravenscroft, brother-in-law, Gordon (Patricia) Johnson, nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn Becker, husband, Gerald Wayne Johnson, brothers, Joseph, John, James and Raymond Becker, sister, a Eileen Becker, a brother who died in infancy, Jerry Becker and son-in-law, Paul G. Bauer.

A memorial service for Evelyn will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek.  Evelyn’s family will greet visitors at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Evelyn’s family would like to invite their guests to join them for lunch and fellowship in the church basement immediately following the service.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
