Geraldine "Gerry" Margaret (Duras) Muermann

Geraldine M. Muermann, 82, peacefully passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Luther Midelfort hospital in Eau Claire, surrounded by her family.

Gerry was born May 12, 1932, in Chicago Ill., to Rudy and Helen Duras. Gerry spent most of her life in Chetek, Wi.

Gerry married Burnette Muermann in Chetek on June 30, 1951.

Gerry and Burnette were dairy farmers on Barron/Rusk county line, when they moved to their home in the country.

Gerry loved to farm as well as socializing with family and friends. Gerry was frequently surrounded by family and friends whom she loved very much. She also loved to host coffee parties for her friends and relatives. She loved to laugh as well as make people laugh. She would always greet people with an open heart.

Although she loved Wisconsin most, she loved to travel and camp around the United States.

Gerry loved to garden with Burnette and enjoyed her flowers as well as the vegetables they grew together. Gerry canned and froze all of the produce that they grew together.

Country rides to the Blue Hills were also a favorite of hers along with musicals and polka dancing.

Gerry was very involved in the Catholic Church in Chetek where she used her talent of cooking in the kitchen of St. Boniface.

Gerry was a bubbly, spirited, fun-loving, generous, hard-working, and kind person who was always ready for an adventure.

Gerry leaves to celebrate her memory: husband, Burnette Muermann, Chetek, WI; children: Judy Muermann, Columbia Heights, MN; Jill (Gary) Bugella, Tucson, AZ; Joan (Andy) Turner, Chetek, WI; Janet (Mark) Thompson, Chetek, WI; grandchildren: Angel (Tom) Gorman, Indiana Thompson, Whitney (Brian) Rusch, Ben (Yasmin) Turner, Maggie Turner, great grandchildren: Alexandra Gorman, Brecken Turner, Miles Turner and Jonathan Rusch, sister, Judy Clark, nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents Rudy Duras and Helen Clark.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. Following the service the family would like to invite their guests to join them for lunch and fellowship in the church fellowship hall.
