Gladys E. Johnson, 94 of Chetek, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek.
Gladys was born on October 10, 1917 in Dovre Township the daughter of Peter and Annie (Holten) Bronstad. She was baptized and confirmed at Dovre Lutheran Church. She married Clarence J. Johnson in Chetek in 1939 and became a member of Chetek Lutheran Church. Besides farming with her husband, Gladys also worked in factories and as a cleaning lady.
Gladys leaves to celebrate her memory: son, Donald (Susan) Johnson; Chetek, son-in-law, Donald Mouchka, Chetek; grandchildren: Peggy Troudt, Julie Hrovat, Mary Sue Abel, David Johnson, Amy Toennes, Sheri Seever and Blaine Johnson, 14 great- grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren, sister-in-laws, Dorothy Bronstad and Helen Johnson, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence in 2002, son, David in 1969, daughter, Muriel Mouchka in 1999, granddaughter, Pamela Mouchka in 1985, great-grandson, Collin Johnson in 1989, one sister, Myrtle and 6 brothers; Helmer, Fred, Clarence, LeRoy, Clifford and Harvey Bronstad.
Funeral services for Gladys will be at the Chetek Lutheran Church on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Guy Redfield officiating. Music will be provided by the Robinson Sisters and Julie Odil. The family will greet visitors at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.
Gladys will be laid to rest alongside her husband Clarence at Lakeview Cemetery in Chetek. The family would like to invite their guests to join them for fellowship and lunch at Chetek Lutheran Church following the cemetery service.
Casket Bearers will be grandsons: David Johnson, Blaine Johnson, Bill Toennes, Albert Hrovat, Steve Troudt and Jeff Abel.
The Burnham-Ours Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
