Glenn Robert Florczak

March 22, 1947 — July 8, 2014

Glenn R. Florczak, 67 of Chetek passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Lake View Medical Center in Rice Lake.  He was born in Chicago, Illinois March 22, 1947 the son of Charlotte and Alfred Florczak.

Glenn married his love Jeanne Taylor on August 12, 1989 and they raised 4 children together.  A lifelong Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, Glenn enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing poker.  He also loved rock n roll music and was in a band in his youth.  He wrote song lyrics all his life and was excited to hear one of his songs played on the radio.

An avid nature-lover, Glenn and Jeanne spent 3 years traveling along the west coast, visiting the seashore, National Parks and photographing wildflowers.  He enjoyed watching westerns on television and going for rides in the country with his wife.

Glenn served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He also worked at the U.S. Post Office in Rice Lake, and for the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Energy.  During his time at OSHA, he was considered one of the top construction safety experts in the country.

Glenn is survived by his wife Jeanne, Children, Carrie Kittelson of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Nicole Belanger of Frederick, Maryland, Rebecca Belanger of Hillsdale, Wisconsin and Eric “Fritz” Florczak of Frederick, Maryland, 9 grandchildren, Jared Arneson, Trent Zwiefel, Cody, Logan and Riley Horton, Gage Vilz, AnaIsabel de la Torre, Jaxson Belanger and Asiah Florczak, one great-grandchild, Makenna Horton, sister Joan Lemire of Wilton, New Hampshire,  brother Gary Florczak of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, several brother and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, loving cousins, a special friend Roger Mosier and his beloved dog and constant companion Sammy.

A time of remembrance for Glenn will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 14, 2014 at the funeral home.  Family and friends may gather from 9:00 A.M. until the time of sharing.  The Howard-Campbell-Ganske American Legion Post #179 will be performing military honors.  The interment will take place at a later date.
