Henry T. Skiermanski, 94 passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek.  Born December 13, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois beloved son of the late Rose (nee Jaks) and Michael Skiermanski.  Preceded in death by his parents, brother Ted Skiermanski and sisters Marion (Harold) Gubricky and Hariett (Charles) Kiick.  Survived by sister-in-law Joan Skiermanski and "Uncle Tiger" to many nieces and nephews.

Henry graduated from Carl Schurz High School in Chicago in 1939.  Henry worked for the National Mineral Company in Chicago until enlisting in the United States Navy Coast Guard as an apprentice seaman in March of 1942.  He had completed his Seamanship school with a Coxswain rating, received the American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal, separating from the Coast Guard in May of 1946.  Returning from the Coast Guard, he worked for Bell & Howell Company in Chicago and retired after 30 years of service.

Henry moved to Chetek, Wisconsin in the fall of 1976 where he enjoyed his love of golfing, fishing and hunting.  His love of music, especially sing-alongs, always put a smile on his face.  Henry was a life time member of the American Legion Post 179.

A special thank you to Knapp Haven Nursing Home and their staff for the exceptional care that Henry had received through the years.  His family is grateful that he was able to stay in Chetek, which Henry has always considered his "Home."

No services are being planned at this time.  A private burial will take place in Illinois at a later date.
