Herman R. Bronstad, 81 of Chetek passed away unexpectedly Wednesday February 10, 2016 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home.  He was born March 11, 1934 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin the son of Oscar and Lillian (Paulsrud) Bronstad.

Herman served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. He was an over the road truck driver for most of his life and retired teamster. He was a lifetime member of the Chetek V.F.W. Post #10331 and Howard-Campbell-Ganske American Legion Post #179. He wintered in Port Isabelle, Texas and liked to ride his Harley.  His big passion was football and the Green Bay Packers.  He bowled on a couple’s league with his wife and enjoyed going to horsepulls.  He was very good on the dance floor and liked to play the spoons.  But mostly he enjoyed the company of friends and family.

Herman is survived by his three children; Shari (Jim Fitzgerald) Kurtzhals of Cameron, Ronald (Yvonne) Bronstad of Chetek, Allan Bronstad of Chetek, 5 grandchildren; Kari, Jason, Brittany, Asia, Marcus, 7 great-grandchildren, siblings; Ideen Parks of Chetek, Dennis Bronstad of San Diego, CA, Basil Bronstad of Chetek, Sharon (Darryl) Boggess of Cottage Grove, MN, Bryce (Gerri) of Stoughton, WI and other relatives and many friends.   He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Shirley (Espeseth) Bronstad, siblings; Elno, Lyle, Kenneth, Douglas, Roger, Corrine “Corky” Siverling and much loved canine companions Duke, Dusty and Penny.

A memorial service for Herman will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday February 20, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Martin officiating.  Family and friends may visit from noon until the time of the service. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday June 4, 2016 with Military Rites being accorded by the American Legion Post #179 and V.F.W. Post #10331 honor guard. All are invited after the service to the V.F.W. Post #10331 for a luncheon and continued fellowship .
