Jack Howeson Badger, 80 of Chetek, died on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek, WI, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 15, 1931 to Frank and Martha (Curtis) Badger at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.
Jack graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in the Class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Chetek American Legion, Post 179. He was employed at Uniroyal in Eau Claire for over 40 years.
On January 26, 1952 Jack married Nancy Sather at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.
In 1949 Jack participated for Eau Claire Senior High School in the State of Wisconsin tack meet in Madison, tying for first place with a high jump of 5’ 11’’. Also in 1949 he won a trophy as the winner of the Eau Claire City Decathlon. Jack was interested in all sports, and in later years, loved to golf and fish. He was a big fan of the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers.
For 15 years, Jack and Nancy spent winters in Mesa, AZ, where he loved golfing, swimming and walking in the park.
Jack leaves to celebrate his memory: wife, Nancy; son, John (Mary Beth) and daughter, Janet (Kenneth) Homme; grandson, Nathan (Nicole) Homme; great grandson, Barret Homme and great granddaughter, Nala Homme; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dwight and Dorwin (Rita); sisters, Dorothy (Earl) Anderson and Kathleen (Duane) Young; son, Steven Badger.
The family extends thanks to Knapp Haven Nursing Home Staff, Mayo Hospice, and Pastor Guy Redfield for his prayers and compassion.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28 at Chetek Lutheran Church, the family will greet visitors at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. Military Honors will be rendered by the Chetek American Legion Post 179 following the service.  Interment will be at a later date at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.  Jack’s family wishes to invite their guests to join them for fellowship and lunch following the service.
