Mary Jane “Jane” Anderson, age 92 from Chetek passed away peacefully at home with family on Wednesday April, 18, 2018. She was born February 7, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Margaret (Zick) and Charles Braun.
She was a graduate of Withrow High School in Cincinnati, OH in 1944. She married Donald R. Anderson on July 3, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois and they moved to Minneapolis, MN before making their home in La Crosse, WI. In La Crosse, she worked as a Legal Secretary at Gateway Transportation. In La Crosse, she was an active member in the St. Pius X Church as the President of the Altar and Rosary Society for many years. In 1957 they bought their cabin on Lake Chetek and enjoyed many many summers with family on Lake Chetek until they made Chetek their permanent home in 1971.
Jane became involved with St. Boniface Church as the secretary and bookkeeper as a volunteer for many years. Jane made it her personal business to make sure the Altar what addressed to the liturgical season; the Priest’s clerical robes were taken care of. She served as a Eucharistic Minister from the beginning, active in the CCW as a member and a Treasurer. She enjoyed every Monday morning with other’s in the church counting money. She was nominated for the Pax Christie Award from St. Boniface. Jane did all these things for the Glory of God and wanted no thanks or recognition.
She enjoyed her lake life, boating and water skiing. She was quite the seamstress. She enjoyed entertaining with family and friends. She often travelled with Don until he retired. Jane was Don’s long time caregiver until he passed.
Jane is survived by her son, Ron (Dawn) Anderson of Chetek, Grandchildren, Kelly, Derek, great grandson, Dawson, nephews, Roger (Sonnie) Dickman, Bob (Joyce) Dickman, her beloved dog "Tuffy", other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald, sister, Ruth Dickman and brother Charles Braun.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 23, 2018 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with Father Bala Policeity and Father Gerard Willger concelebrating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. Inurnment at St. Boniface Cemetery will be at a later date. A luncheon and continued fellowship will be served in the church hall.
The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
