Janet Louise (Dunham) Carlson

November 22, 1927 — July 29, 2015

Janet L. Carlson, 87 of Chetek peacefully passed away July 29, 2015 at Brentwood Assisted Living Center in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.  She was born November 22, 1927 in Harvey, Illinois the daughter of Russell and Helen (Cadwell) Dunham.

Janet married Robert E. Carlson October 21, 1950.  Together they raised 3 children; Brad, Beth and Kevin.  Janet attended Music College, in Chicago and worked for the Whiting Corporation in Illinois, and later was a bridal consultant for many years at Marshall Fields and Company.  Janet was very active with Wisconsin Tourism.  Janet and Robert moved to Chetek in 1974 and became the owner and operators of the Red Lodge Resort.  She and Robert wintered in Venice, Florida where they had a home as well.  Janet sold the resort in 2005 after her husband passed away in January 2003.

Janet is survived by  her children; Beth (Robert) Unbehaun and Kevin (Mary Jo) Carlson both of Chetek, 6 grandchildren; Chase Unbehaun, Cord (Katie) Unbehaun, Mathew Carlson, Conor Unbehaun, Jacob Carlson, Alexis Carlson and 1 sister Sandra (Charles) Hamm.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Brad Carlson and sister, Betty Dotson.

Janet’s family is planning a private interment in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where she’ll be laid to rest alongside her husband Robert.  Please join Janet’s family for a celebration of Life, Friday, August 7, 2015 at The R-Bar Banquet facility in Chetek Township, from 1-3 P.M.
