Jerome Francis Gurske

Jerome F. Gurske, 67 of New Auburn passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Northland in Barron, Wisconsin.  He was born September 12, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Norene (Kelly) and Edward Gurske.

Jerry married the love of his life, Laura M. Mercurio in 1974 Oak Park, Illinois.  He was a Plumber until 1977, then moving to Door County to pursue his love of fishing.  He became a charter boat captain on Lake Michigan out of Sturgeon Bay.  In 1995 Jerry & Laura moved to the Northwood of Wisconsin.  Jerry retired in 2007 from Southern Cross West, subcontractor for WE Energies as a Sniffer.  They spent the summers fishing Chequamegon Bay and boating among the Apostle Islands.  He enjoyed watching the wildlife and was an avid reader.

Jerry is survived by his wife; Laura, sister; Norene (Louis) Hyman of Arizona, niece; Madeline Marx of Florida, nephew; Michael (Cheryl) Pollard of Canada.  He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister; Patricia Marx.
