Joan Donna Lee (Coghill) Lyrek

Joan Donna Lee (Coghill) Lyrek, age 89, of Chetek, Wisconsin entered eternal life on Thursday, December 29, 2022.

Joan was born in Jordan, MN, on August 27, 1933, to Donald and Elizabeth (Smith) Coghill. She became the sixth of seven children.

After college in Mankato, Joan moved to Minneapolis and worked as an administrative assistant at IDS. At a dance club one evening she met Raymond Lyrek. Joan married Raymond on May 18, 1957, in Jordan, MN. Together, they chose to farm and raise a family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, game and cooking shows, crossword puzzles, reading, but most of all, taking care of her family.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband Raymond; grandchild Zackary; siblings Blanche Fahey, Helen Coghill, Mary Barry, Father Elstan Coghill, Barbara Polingo, Jesse Coghill; and her beloved dog Little Man.

Survivors include her children; James, Julie, Kenneth, William (Lorena), Gregory (Deb), Susan (Blaine) Hackett, and Rita. Grandchildren; William Jr, Peter, Michael, Claire, Jesse, David, Wyatt, Casey, Sydney, and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass for Joan will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek, Wisconsin at 1:00 P.M. with a visitation prior to the Mass beginning at 11:30 A.M. Pallbearers will be William Jr, Peter, Michael, Jesse, David, Wyatt, and Casey.

Joan’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caring staff at Marshfield Medical Center Rice Lake Dialysis.
