Joie Hertzfeld

November 17, 1946 — August 18, 2015

We lost a great person. Not a celebrity, not a political leader; but more importantly, a teacher, artist, father, grandfather, brother, spouse, friend and a truly genuine, kind and happy person.

Joie Hertzfeld, 68, of Prairie Lake Township passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 18, 2015.

He was born November 17, 1946 in Wausau, WI, the son of Emily (Charmoli) and Norman Hertzfeld. He graduated from Stout University in 1969.  For the next thirty-five years he was an art teacher and was known to the students at Chippewa Falls Middle School as “Mr. H”. He taught and lived the motto, “He who works with his hands is a Laborer.  He who works with his hands and his head is a Craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an Artist”. He retired in 2005 to spend time pontooning on the lake at sunset, seeing Wisconsin, visiting campsites, travelling its rustic roads with his wife, and enjoying his kids and grandson.

Joie is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia A. Sesolak, three children: Rory Hertzfeld of Austin, TX, Molly Hertzfeld of St. Paul, MN, Morgan (Elizabeth) Hertzfeld of Prior Lake, MN, one grandson; Oliver, brother; John (Connie) Hertzfeld of White Rock, MN, Niece; Johnna (Brian) Lush.  Also survived by his sisters-in-law; Cherie (Don) Penza, Connie (Dan) Shepardson, brother-in-law; John (Sue) Sesolak, nephews; Brian, Scott, niece; Katelyn and many friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents.
