Joyce (Riewe) Davis

November 26, 1928 — May 17, 2016

Joyce Davis, 87 of Chetek passed away Tuesday May 17, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Northland in Barron.  She was born November 26, 1928 in Milwaukee the daughter of Theodore and Clara (Bathke) Riewe.

Joyce spent her childhood in Milwaukee, but left the big city for Chetek when Wally proposed and married her. Although Chetek was very different from Milwaukee, she quickly fell in love with the City of Lakes. Joyce and her husband Wally, lovingly owned and operated Kingfisher Resort in Chetek for over twenty years. Joyce enjoyed bowling, playing cards, singing, and visiting the casino. She was an amazing baker known for her bread, pies, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate cake. The last was a favorite of resort guests when it was shared on the dock in the evenings. When Joyce was not enjoying breakfast with her friends at Bob’s Grill, she was watching her beloved Packers. Although Joyce had a number of interests she was happiest when surrounded by her family.

Joyce is survived by her children Gary (Lisa) Davis of New Auburn, Al (Jane) Davis of Chetek, Tammy (Glenn Oberholtz) Martin of Hawaii, Jon (Lori) Davis of Kalamazoo, Michigan, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wally, 5 sisters; Margaret, Marion, Betty, Janet, Lois and 1 brother, Herman.

A memorial service for Joyce will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday May 21, at Chetek Lutheran Church with Pastor Ralph Marquardt officiating.  Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service.  A luncheon and continued fellowship will be served in the church hall following the service.  Please view and sign the online guest book at www.burnhamours.com.
