Kalyn Mackenna (Best) Books, 23, of Chetek, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2024. Kalyn was born on April 11, 2001, in Indiana to her parents Lance and Stacy (Peer) Best.
Known for her infectious smile and laugh along with her caring and generous spirit, Kalyn brought joy to everyone she met. Kalyn found her calling as an EMT, where her compassion and dedication to helping others shined brightly. Chetek Ambulance service was her home away from home. Her passion for fitness kept her motivated and she loved starting her day with a workout at the gym. Justin and Kalyn’s paths first crossed on an emergency call. Her strong faith was a guiding light in her life, and it was at church where her and Justin’s relationship was sparked. They were united in marriage on September 10, 2022. Together, they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Wrenley Ellen, affectionately known as “Wren-Wren”. Kalyn adored Wrenley and shared her love for all things Christmas, keeping the holiday spirit alive with Christmas lights up all year round in their home. Justin and Kalyn enjoyed special movie and popcorn dates. She also enjoyed cooking for Justin, who loved every meal she made. As a family, they cherished daily walks with their Pitbull Maggie, camping trips, pontoon rides, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
Kalyn leaves behind her devoted husband, Justin, beautiful daughter, Wrenley, her faithful Pitbull Maggie, her parents Lance and Stacy Best, sister Ashlyn (Chris) Wallace, twin sister Jalyn (Ray) Baldwin, grandparents Steve and Naomi Peer, Joe and Sue Kapp, father and mother-in-law Randy and Lu Ann Books who she had a very special bond with, sisters and brother-in-law, Kassie (Mike) Siebenshuh, Rachel (Cody) Nyhagen, Brandon (Payton Sevals) Books, nieces, and nephew Maddie, Zoey, Jackson, and Loretta, along with many other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Kalyn will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Chetek Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Chetek Lutheran Church from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and again on Thursday one hour before the service. She will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery following the service. Please join the family at the church for lunch following the service.
Kalyn’s memory will forever be celebrated by those who knew and loved her.
