Kim Marie (Slaathaug) Sheehan

June 1, 1963 — May 4, 2016

Kim Marie Sheehan, 52 years old, of Chetek, Wisconsin, joined the heavenly angels on May 4, 2016 at Mayo Hospital in Barron, after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born on June 1, 1963 in Baker, Montana to Wionia and Merlin Slaathaug. She grew up in northern Minnesota in the small town of Karlstad. She graduated from high school there. In 1984, she moved to Glasgow, Montana and met her soon-to-be husband, Todd Sheehan, who lived next door. Following a move to Palmetto, Florida, she attended Manatee Community College, where she received her RN degree. She was a very kind, caring nurse, loved by all who met her. In 1994, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Rachael Marie. Two years later, she gave birth to a bumbling baby boy, Chad Thomas. In 1997, the whole family moved to Chetek, Wisconsin where they bought a small farm. She then became an employee of Barron Hospital and worked various shift and positions throughout the years, until finally she became an anti-coagulation nurse in the Mayo Clinic system in Barron. Here she interacted with many people and patients and soon won them all over, with her contagious smile and warm heart. She loved her animals, especially her horses and enjoyed watching her children grow up and play their many sports.

She is survived by her spouse, Todd Sheehan, two children, Rachael and Chad Sheehan, mother, Wionia, mother-in-law, Marjorie Sheehan, sisters, Janet Wood and Audrey Bailey, brother, Todd Slaathaug, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, coworkers, and patients.

She is preceded in death by her father, Merlin Slaathaug, father-in-law, Lloyd Sheehan, and sister-in-law, Connie Affholter.

A celebration of life will be held on May 14, 2016 at Burnham-Ours Funeral Home in Chetek at 11am, followed by a lunch at noon at R-Bar in Chetek. The wake will be held May 13, 2016 at Burnham-Ours Funeral Home from 4-7 or later.

Thank you to all the attending nurses and doctors within the Mayo system. Her laugh and smile will be missed by all. Please view and sign the online guestbook at www.burnhamours.com .
