Laverne "Vern" Edward Hennig, 85, of Chetek, WI passed away June 1, 2016 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Vern was born Nov. 1, 1930 to Edward and Lydia Hennig of Fall Creek, WI.  He married Rosetta Gunnufson of Colfax, WI June 25, 1955.

He was a graduate of Fall Creek High School.  He worked for many years for Fuller Brush before purchasing Six Lakes Resort which he owned for 19 years.  Vern enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting and going to the casino.  He was an avid Brewers, Packers, and Badgers fan, as well as enjoying fantasy football.  Vern played league dartball for a number of years.

He is survived by his 3 children, Connie Shotnik of St. Petersburg, FL, Steven and Karen Hennig of Chetek and David and Cathy Hennig of Chetek; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany Brower, Sarah (Levi) Aho, Heather (Tim) Byington, Tyler Hennig, Brandon Hennig; 3 great grandchildren, Madelyn and Logan Aho, McKenzie Byington, a brother Erv (Doris) Hennig and a sister Elaine (Jim) Guertin.

Laverne was preceded in death by his wife Rosetta, his parents and his sister Irene Warner.

Funeral services will be held 11:00am Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Chetek Lutheran Church with pastor Guy Redfield officiating.  The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will take place at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, WI 2:30pm.  Vern's family would like to invite their guests to join them for a luncheon and fellowship following the service in the church basement.
