Lyle Wendell Holm

July 9, 1930 — March 11, 2014

Lyle W. Holm, 83 of Eau Claire passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Pelican Place Apartments in Chetek.  He was born on July 9, 1930 the son of Wendell and Eleanor Holm in Eau Claire, WI

After graduating from high school, Lyle served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.  He was happily married for 52 years to Norene Alice Peterson who preceded him in death nearly 10 years ago.  Lyle was a skilled carpenter, loved to golf, fish and hunt.  He took his children on many camping trips, rode his bike 20 miles (in his 70’s), and was very active while taking his 2-3 mile walks daily.  For over 50 years, he was in the Hope Lutheran Church Choir in Eau Claire and the Eau Claire Male chorus.  Norene and Lyle were members of the Valley Gospel choir.  Lyle and Norene also wintered in Mesa, Arizona.

He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor and friendliness, especially all his friends at Knapp Haven and Pelican Place Apartments.

Surviving Lyle are his two children, David (Christine) Holm of Baraboo, WI and Julie (Shaun) Odil of Chetek, WI.  Proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Matthew Holm and Sarah Holm, also survived by relatives and many friends.

Memorial Services for Lyle will be Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Chetek Lutheran Church at 11:00 A.M.  Family and friends may gather at the church one hour prior to the service.  Pastor Guy Redfield will be officiating.  All are invited to a luncheon following the service in the church fellowship hall.  Interment will take place in the spring at Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in Eau Claire.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Knapp Haven activities fund or Chetek Lutheran Church.
