Melvin Perry Thomas

Melvin “Topper” Thomas, age 66 passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 at his residence in Chetek. He was born May 31, 1947 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Perry and Nancy (Hess) Thomas.
Mel was an artistic person who was a genuine craftsman and loved woodworking. He built many homes including the one he lived in. He worked alongside his partner Cyd with her artwork, built frames and helped with printing. The portrait chosen for this obituary was painted by Cyd. He was an adventurous spirit-prospected for gold, traveled and was an inventor of many products. Fishing and photography were many other hobbies he had a passion for.
He will be sadly missed by his devoted partner Cydney “CJ” Conner, Children; Yvette (Patrick) Cargill of Chetek, and Amanda (Chad) Gohde of Spooner, Grandfather of Thadd, Paxton and Erika, Brother of Marilyn (Denny) Dhabalt of Milan, Illinois and Jeanette Stewart of Lowden, Iowa.
Mel is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Milton Thomas.
