Michael Selmer Severson

Michael Severson, age 80, passed away with his loving family by his side on March 9, 2025, in Chetek, Wisconsin.

Michael Selmer Severson was born on February 22, 1945 to Selmer and Beatrice (Wheeler) Severson of Sand Creek, WI. He was the youngest of three children. Mike graduated from Chetek High School. After high school, he trained to become a barber. Later, he attended WITC in the Cable TV Lineman program. Careers included barber, factory work at Presto Industries, self-employed painter/drywaller, as well as working for Westinghouse/GroupW Cable as a lineman and supervisor. In 1972, Mike married Candyce Binning and the couple had two sons, Jeremy and Jon. The family resided in the Bloomer and New Auburn area. Candy and Mike later divorced. In 1992, he married Ramona Glenz and the couple had a daughter, Sabrina.

Mike enjoyed NASCAR, traveling, collecting antiques, and telling stories. He enjoyed making models, refinishing furniture, and spending time with his family. He was a meticulous dresser, always making sure his jeans were hemmed and pressed with a crease.

Mike is survived by his son, Jeremy (Bobbi) Severson of Ridgeland, son, Jon (Angela) Severson of North Branch, MN, and daughter, Sabrina (Michael) Crutcher of Menomonie. Grandchildren Devyn (Andrew Bockelman) Severson, Kristian (Gabryelle) Severson, Hannah (Micah Schmunk) Severson, Emily (Ethan Groshong) Severson, Alex Severson, Freja Severson, and Maxim Severson, as well as great granddaughter, Aurora Severson.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Darlene Waterhouse and Luwana Rederer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ridgeland Community Center on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 1:00-4:00 PM.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
