Nickole M. Schmidt-VanHecker, 32 of Eau Claire, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at University of Minnesota-Fairview Medical Center after being diagnosed with leukemia in January 2013.  Nickole was born on December 15, 1981 in Neillsville, Wisconsin the daughter of Suzanne Kay (Otto) and Michael Lee Schmidt.

Nickole graduated from Chetek high school in 2000, was crowned Miss Snowflake 1999-2000 for the AWSC (Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs), then went on to further her education at WWTC-LaCrosse, where she graduated with an Associate’s degree and became a Radiologic Technologist at Marshfield Clinic.  She had a contagious smile and a great big heart.  Nickole married the love of her life, Bradley Peter VanHecker on October 19, 2012 on the Schmidt Family Farm in Dovre Township.   She loved to take her 5 year old yellow lab  “Winston” along when she would go running.  Nickole was a very active lady; she loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile & motorcycle riding, or just about any activity outdoors.

Nickole leaves to celebrate her memory; her husband, Brad, parents, Suzanne and Michael Schmidt of New Auburn, Sister; Naomi Schmidt of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin,  Step-brothers; Todd (Dawn) Schmidt of Phillips, Wisconsin and Jeff Schmidt of Wausau, Wisconsin, Step-sister; Jodie (David) King of Edgewater, Florida, Nieces; Jessica Emily, Briana, Faith, Nephews; Dakota, David, Jonathan, Bodie, Mother and Father-in-law; Cheryl (Brad) Anderson of Abbotsford, Wisconsin and Gary (Deb) VanHecker of Marshfield, Wisconsin, and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family and friends.

A Very Special Thank you to all of Nickole’s Caregivers that spent precious time with her.  Her family is most grateful.

Join Nickole’s family for A Time of Remembrance Service, 6:00 P.M. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Chetek Lutheran Church.  Nickole’s family will greet visitors at the church on Friday from 3:00 P.M. and share memories of her until the service.
