Rodney "Stub" Olson, 77 of Chetek, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek with his loving family at his side. Stub was born on Novemer 28, 1933 in the Sioux Creek Township, Barron County, Wisconsin the son of Albert and Goldie (Parks) Olson.
Stub was an all around sportsman. He farmed all his life in the Town of Sioux Creek on the Red Cedar River. He retired from farming in 1991 and moved to Chetek. He worked as an Apprentice Carpenter with Roy Harman until 1996. He faithfully served on Pleasant Hill School Board, Sioux Creek Town Board, Chetek Equity Cooperative Board, Lone Oak Board and was a very active member of the Advent Christian Church Board. He liked to brag about what a wonderful family he had! He also enjoyed the company of his many friends.
Stub leaves to celebrate his memory: wife, Marlyce Olson, Chetek; daughters; Christy Thompson, Cameron; Bonnie Kurtz, Hayward; Vicky Smith, New Cuyama, CA; goddaughter, Karja Keller; grandchildren: Mardy (Amy) Aspseter, Merissa (Justin) Siiter, Lyndsey (Steve) Elliott, Tiffany Kurtz, Sadie Kurtz, Dusty (Shana) Smith, Amy (Phillip) Murillo, Tim Smith, Tracy (Pat) Fouts, Ginger (Brian) Cox; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandsons; brother, Russell Olson; sister, Ardis (Tank) Miguel; nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Advent Christian Church in Chetek at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Norm Phillips will officiate the celebration. The family will be greeting visitors at the church beginning at 9:30 A.M. before the service.
Stub will be laid to rest at the Lakeview Cemetery in Chetek following the service. The family wishes to invite their guests to return to the church after the cemetery service for fellowship and lunch.
