Roger O. Bronstad

Roger O'Niel Bronstad, 81, Chetek, passed away at home on Thursday, August 9, 2012. He was born in the Town of Howard, Chippewa County, WI on March 26, 1931 the son of Oscar and Lillian (Paulsrud) Bronstad.
Roger graduated from Chetek High School 1949. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1951, where he served 20 years active duty and 10 years in reserves. He was honorably ranked as a Chief Petty Officer.
In 1967, Roger married Mary Sue Johnson in Medford, Massachusetts. They lived together in Chetek, where Roger enjoyed his 15 years of work on Route 3 as a rural mail carrier. Roger was a good husband and father. He showed love for the whole family.
Roger leaves to celebrate his memory: loving wife, Mary Sue Bronstad of Chetek; children, Valorie (Greg) Thomas of Riverside, CA, Janie Peres of Madison, WI, Brenda (Dave) Rodgers of Riverside, CA, Randy (Tanya) Bronstad of River Falls, WI; siblings, Ideen Parks of Chetek, WI, Corrine “Corky” Siverling of Bloomer, WI, Herman Bronstad of Chetek, WI, Dennis Bronstad of San Diego, CA, Basil (Colleen) Bronstad of Chetek, WI, Sharon (Darrel) Boggess of Cottage Grove, MN, Bryce (Geraldine “Gerri”) Bronstad of Stoughton, WI; sisters-in-law, Ann Bronstad of North St. Paul, MN, Garnet Bronstad of Chetek, WI; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Harvey “Eddie” Ashmore; brothers, Elno, Lyle, Douglas, and Kenneth Bronstad.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Burnham Ours Funeral Home in Chetek, WI, with Pastor Philip Rohler officiating. Roger’s family will be greeting visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 179 and VFW Post 10331. Roger will be laid to rest at Lake View Cemetery in Chetek.
