Ruby Alice (Taylor) Hakes

Ruby Alice Hakes, age 93, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on August 26, 2024, in Chetek, Wisconsin.

Ruby was born to Frank and Orpha Taylor on August 22, 1931, in the town of Sampson, Chippewa County, Wisconsin.

Ruby found joy in her puzzle books, especially word searches, which kept her mind sharp and active. During her younger days, she loved to spend her time camping and gardening. But most of all, Ruby cherished the time she spent with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Orpha and Frank Taylor, her husband, Lawrence Hakes, and siblings, Lillian, Harold, Alvin, William, Mary, Richard, and Henry.

Ruby is survived by her children, Larry (Elizabeth) Hakes, Timothy Hakes, and Susan Hakes, grandchildren, Jessie (Brian) McMasters and Megan (Michael) Skubovius, great-grandchildren, Connor, Finley, Ellison, and Sydney McMasters, and MacKenzie and Maison Skubovius, and sister, Rosa Blake, as well as many other loving family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 10:00 AM.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
