Ruth Elaine (Anderson) Brooks

Ruth E. Brooks, 87 of Chetek passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home.  She was born in Eau Claire December 13, 1926 to Helen (Badman) and Adolph Anderson.

Ruth graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1944.  She worked at Hannah Skare’s Drygoods Store,  A & P Store, the U.S.. Federal Government at Presto, 30 years for the City of Eau Claire as: 10 of those at Treasurer’s Dept., billing water bills, and 20 years as the Secretary for the Superintendent of Streets.  She married “the love of her life” Edward “Bud” Brooks in 1975.  After retirement they moved to Chetek, WI.  Ruth was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, DAV Auxiliary and Chetek Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children, Trudy (Pat) Gunn of Gilman, WI and David Sundlin of Chetek,WI, 5 grandchildren, Jeff (Kris) Sundlin of Janesville, WI, Julie (Donny) Miller of Inverness, FL, Jodi (Brian) Garvin of Wausau, WI, Brenda (Brian) Bestor of LaValle, WI, Brady (Sarah) Gunn of Hayward, WI, and Step Grandson Derek Peterson of Cadott, WI.  Also survived by 9 Great-grandchildren that called her “Grandma Great”!  Justin, Jacob, Sarah, Alex, Zachary, McKenzie, Bo, Gaitlin, Kendra, special nieces, nephews and many friends (Myra) and relatives.  Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud, brother Eugene (Crystal) Anderson, sister, Lois (Sonny) Theiler, Ex-Husband Carl Sundlin, Ellsworth and Sandra Brooks, Lorraine Gieseke.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 26, 2014  at Chetek Lutheran Church with Pastor Guy Redfield officiating.   Ruth's family will greet visitors at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M.  The family wishes to invite their guests to join them for lunch and fellowship following the service.  The inurnment will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery, Eau Claire.  For those attending the committal service, please meet at the cemetery at 2:30 P.M. following the luncheon.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
