Shirley Mae (Leu) King

December 20, 1926 — January 19, 2015

Shirley M. King, 88, of Chetek passed away on January 19, 2015 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home.  Shirley was born in Fond du Lac, WI the daughter of Theresa (Seurer) and Oscar Leu on December 20, 1926.

Shirley graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, 1945, married Daniel King June 11, 1949.  Shirley was a homemaker raising their 8 children when they moved to Chetek around 1970.  In 1978 she began working at Knapp Haven Nursing Home as a Nursing Aide, then continued on to school at age 55 to earn a Licensed Practical Nursing certificate.  Shirley worked mainly on the Alzheimer’s unit until her retirement December 30, 2004.  She enjoyed working in her garden and flowers, watching the birds, reading books and knitting.  Her time spent with the young grandchildren and great-grandchildren were precious to her.

Shirley leaves to celebrate her memory; former husband, Daniel King of Ladysmith; children; Ronald (Sharon) King of Stevens Lake, WI, Susan (Darrell Loween) King of Chetek, Warren (April) King of Streamwood, IL, Larry King of Hawkins, WI, Dennis King of Chetek, Dianne (Todd) Greene of Chetek, Brian (Judy) King of Chetek, Kevin King of Hawkins, WI, 8 Grandchildren;  Christopher, Daniel, Bradley, Travis, Brandi, Amber, Samantha, Brian and 11 Great-Grandchildren.  Shirley will be greatly missed by her devoted pets, Toby, Riley and Teri.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Sonny Leu and grandson-in-law, Dale Clemmens.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Carrie Hamm officiating.  The family will be greeting guests beginning at 2:00 P.M.  Please view and sign the online guestbook at www.burnhamours.com .
