Shirley Ann (Kraskiewicz) Thompson

Shirley Ann Thompson, 81 of Chetek passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake.  She was born December 4, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Helen (Poteracki) and Eugene Kraskiewicz.

Shirley was a beautiful, loving, devoted mother and wife.  Through illness and tragedy, she stayed strong.  She instilled in her family to be kind, keep your head held high, be who you are and live life as she did; with a dance in her step and a song in her heart.  She was known for her quick wit, infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Shirley enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings. She welcomed many into her cozy home; for a cup of coffee, a listening ear, to offer advice and plenty of laughter. She always thought of others first, making sure they had a safe, warm place to sleep and full bellies.  She was well-known for her homemade cookies, donuts, pork chops and her award-winning chili and apple pie.

Shirley’s sense of humor, hardy laughter and warm embrace will truly be missed by those who loved her.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth, children; Greg (John), Sue (Bill) Carroll, Jeff, David Thompson, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one brother; Michael (Rose) Kraskiewicz.  She is preceded in death by her parents, three daughters; Mary, Diane, Heidi, one brother; Eugene “Butch” and one daughter-in-law; Cherrie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Bala Policetty officiating.  Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the Mass.  Inurnment at St. Boniface Cemetery immediately following the service.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
