Virginia Mae (Wulfekuhle) Miller

December 19, 1926 — March 10, 2015

Virginia "Jean" (Wulfekuhle) Miller died March 10th, 2015, at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake, WI. She had spent the day peacefully sleeping, surrounded by loving family members sharing their memories and celebrating her life.

Virginia was born December 19th, 1926, to Henry and Viola Wulfekuhle in Elk Township, Iowa. She was the second of nine children. At a young age, Virginia and her family moved to a farm in Breckenridge, MN.

Virginia met her future husband, Leo Miller, at the Swank Roller Rink in Chicago, Illinois, in 1945. They were married November 23rd, 1946, at St. Rita's Catholic Church. They remained in Chicago until 1975, where they had had five children: Leonard, Agnes, Angeline, Debby (Butzler), and Doris.

Virginia and Leo were the proprietors of Miller's Island Resort in Chetek, WI, from 1975 until they retired in 2002. Virginia's passions included cooking for her family, gardening, and cleaning fish for the resort guests.

Virginia is survived by her sisters: Donna Jean Spellerburg, Genevieve Tomkey, Lovie Brough, Joyce Swensrude, Carie "Blondie" Mackey; her daughters: Agnes Miller, Debby (Mark) Butzler, and Doris Miller; her daughter-in-law, April (Leonard) Miller; her grandchildren: Clint (Heather) Miller, Jason (Melissa) Miller, Joshua (Cassandra) Butzler, Andrew (Jennifer) Muermann, Stacey (Jonathan) Richert, Katrina (Jacob) Knight, Jeanie (Wyatt) Stanek; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her brothers: Leo Kuhle, Chuckie Wulfekuhle, Jimmy Wulfekuhle; her children Leonard Miller,  Angeline Miller and great granddaugher, Ava Miller.

The funeral service for Virginia will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek.  Virginia’s family will greet guests at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.  The family invites their guests to join them for lunch and fellowship in the church basement following the service.

Virginia will be laid to rest at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Chetek in the spring.  Pallbearers will be Clint Miller, Jason Miller, Joshua Butzler, Andrew Muermann, Stacey Richert, Katrina Knight and Jeanie Stanek.

The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
