Vivian Miriam (Mortensen) Williams

February 14, 1924 — September 21, 2013

Vivian M. Williams, 89,of Chetek, passed away Sept 21, 2013 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home surrounded by three of her daughters. She was born February 14, 1924 to Hilda and Halvor Mortensen in Dover Township. Her name was to be Miriam Joyce but a Valentine's Day birth, inspired them to name her Vivian.

She married Maynard Williams, April 4th, 1943 and farmed south of Chetek on County Rd I until retiring from their farm and moving to 10th St in Chetek. She is survived by 5 children, Marie ( Lawrence) Helton, Medford OR; Arrah (Larry) Anderson, Granby, MO; James (Karen) Williams, Wausau WI; Linda (Paul) Langer, Mesa AZ; Susan (Gerard) Kowalski, Ringle WI; 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.  Also survived by one sister, Helen (Dale) Diers of Fruita, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter; Gloria Crotteau and one sister; Beatrice Shears.

Vivian was loved for her kind, delightful manner by those she came in contact with.  She was a peaceful, sweet gentle soul.  A devoted wife working along side her husband Maynard, running a dairy farm in Barron County, while raising her five daughters and one son.


The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home.  Pastor Guy Redfield officiating.  A visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery immediately following. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren,Tessa Wagner, Ben Wagner, Tonya Gallatin, Sean Kowalski, Kelly Moser and Stewart Williams.  Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.  Please view and sign the guest book for Vivians family at www.burnhamours.com .

Our family would like to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Knapp Haven Nursing Home. They gave mom so much kind and loving care.  Their thoughtfulness towards us as we helped mom complete her journey here on earth is much appreciated.
