William Edward Meister

William “Bill” Edward Meister, 90, of New Auburn, Wisconsin passed away at his home with his family at his side on Thursday, December 2, 2021.  Bill was born on March 18, 1931, in Chicago, IL the son of Florence (Bane) and Frank Meister.

Bill was a United States Navy Veteran.  While serving in the Navy, Bill learned the trade of carpentry, which lead him to his lifelong occupation as a union carpenter.  He also enjoyed going to Canada for fishing trips with his good buddies.  Bill was a proud member of the Downers Grove Volunteer Fire Department.

Bill leaves to celebrate his memory: children: Michael (Sharon) Meister, Chetek, WI; Michele (Rand) Hoffmann, Arizona City, AZ; Mark (Sharon) Meister, Birchbay, WA; Nancy Sibrava, Westmont, IL; 7 grandchildren: Jason (Mindy Markham) Jordan, Sarah (Paul) Fitzpatrick, Jameson Jordan, Jacob Sibrava, Melissa (Tyler) Meister-Naatz, Samantha Sibrava, and Nick Sibrava, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Frank Meister, his wife, Helen Marlene Meister, his son, Allen Meister, his sister, Barbara Nelson, and his son-in-law, Donnie Sibrava.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 11:00 A.M.  Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 A.M.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Jason, Sarah, Jameson, Jacob, Melissa, Samantha, and Nick.

Following the mass, military honors will be rendered by the Chetek American Legion in front of the church.

Bill will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at the Northwest Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, Wisconsin.
