William Eugene Rogers, 79 of Barron and formerly of Chetek, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at Barron hospital on June 25 with his children by his side.
William was born September 7, 1935 in Barron, WI to Vernon & Ruth Rogers. He graduated from Barron High School in 1954. He married Luella Huset on Sept. 22, 1956.
Bill was a police officer for the City of Chetek from 1960-1965. He was also a volunteer fireman during that time. He was a truck driver for over 50 years. He drove for Wold Trucking, Ruppel Transport, Babbit Transport, Prefab Trucking, and Wiseway Motor Freight until retirement. Bill received numerous safe driving awards during his career. He was also a member of the Barron ATV Club and enjoyed trail riding and was also a NASCAR fan. Bill lived in the Chetek area his whole life and moved to Barron three years ago.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Luella (2011), daughter Debra (1964), and parents.
He leaves to celebrate his memory: daughter Cindy (Jim) Janota of Bruce, son Rickey Rogers and his wife Joyce Knowlton of Hudson, son Joey (Dina) Rogers of Hammond, 4 grandchildren; Kevin (Shawna) Janota, Michael (Cacee) Janota, Tiffany Rogers, and Brandon Rogers, 5 great-grandchildren,sisters: Marilyn (Dan) Janke, Georgia Westlund, Jackie (Cliff) Pananen, Vicki (John) Waggoner and brother Terry (Connie) Rogers, sister-in-laws; Ilene Gunderman, and Bonnie Huset and brother-in-laws: Donald Huset & Carl Huset, and John Nielsen, several nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.
Bill’s family will greet visitors at the Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home in Chetek on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. and again at Calvary Baptist Church in Barron on Wednesday one hour prior to the services.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church in Barron. Pastor John Terpstra will officiate.
Following the service the family invites their guests to join them for lunch and fellowship in the church fellowship hall.
Bill will be laid to rest at the Lakeview Cemetery in Chetek on Wednesday at 3:30 P.M.
The Burnham-Ours-Kolstad Family Funeral Home of Chetek has been entrusted with arrangements.
