William "Bill" Byrnes

William “Bill” F. Byrnes, 67, of Chetek, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at his home in rural Chetek. He was born January 31, 1945 in Medfield, Massachusetts.

Bill was born and raised on the East Coast. In 1962, he entered the U.S. Armed Forces until 1966, when he was honorably discharged. Bill was married to Janet Drew in December of 1966. To this marriage, three children were born. He worked in the trucking industry for most of his working life. Bill married Sandy Sopher on July 7, 1990. To this union, one daughter was born.

Bill lived in the Chetek area for the last 6 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, the outdoors, and visiting with family and friends.

Bill leaves to celebrate his memory, his children, Kim Byrnes (Tim) of Menomonee Falls, WI, Bill Byrnes JR. (Becky) of Kewaskum, WI, Lori (Jim) Verthein of Kewaskum, WI, Carolann Byrnes (Devin) of Germantown, WI; grandchildren, Rhianna Byrnes (Kyle) and Nathan Verthein; niece, Denise (Dave) Hernandez; many other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Barth.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Burnham Ours Funeral Home in Chetek, with Pastor Guy Redfield officiating. Bill’s family will be greeting visitors from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be provided by the Chetek VFW Post 10331 following services at the funeral home.
